Hi.

My name is Cassie (she/her) and I’m a costume designer, technician, and interdisciplinary artist based in Milwaukee. Theatre was my first love. Originally from the Chicago suburbs and a family of theatre lovers and makers, I grew up on Broadway tours, regional productions, and in my local community theatres. I feel extremely fortunate to still call these houses my home.

I consider myself a theatre artist first, designer second. My approach to design centers around collaboration, which I consider to be the most important aspect of great theatre. From pre-production meetings with the design team to chats with actors during fittings, I strive to create strong characters through clothing. When working with actors, I prioritize comfort and inclusion above all else.

I attended Marquette University where I worked as a Costume Shop Assistant throughout my degree. I graduated with a BA double majoring in Theatre Arts (costuming emphasis) and Psychology.

Additionally, I hold an MA in Education from Alverno College. Education is another great passion of mine. I love sharing my knowledge and talents with others, particularly students and young people as arts education has saved my life many times over the years.

In addition to my work as a freelance designer/technician, I am also a ceramic artist. You can find my pottery on Instagram as @cassie.g.pottery and here. When I’m not at work, you can still find my hands moving, usually on knitting, quilting, needlework, papercraft or miniature projects. I’m also often found with my nose in a book or my eyes on a video game. I currently reside in Bay View with my partner and our two cats.
